JOB DESCRIPTION
Reporting to Chief Technology Officer, the Head of Application Development will be responsible for overseeing the design, development, and implementation of modern applications that meet the evolving needs of our clients. This role requires a strong technical background, exceptional leadership skills, and a deep understanding of the financial services landscape.
Specifically, you will;
- Lead the application development team in designing and implementing scalable, secure, and high-performance applications that leverage modern technologies, including APIs, AI, and cloud-based solutions.
- Ensure that the team adheres to best practices in coding, testing, and deployment.
- Foster a client-centric culture within the development team, ensuring that all applications are designed with the end-user in mind.
- Collaborate with product management and UX/UI teams to gather client feedback and iterate on application features to enhance user satisfaction.
- Manage and mentor a diverse, global team of developers and engineers, promoting collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement across all projects.
- Implement training programs and knowledge-sharing sessions to enhance team capabilities and keep skills current.
- Interface with executive stakeholders to understand business requirements, align technology initiatives with strategic goals, and communicate progress and outcomes effectively.
- Prepare and present regular updates on project status, risks, and opportunities to senior management.
- Champion best practices in modern application design, including service-oriented architecture, microservices, and agile methodologies.
- Lead architectural discussions and decisions to ensure that applications are built for scalability, maintainability, and performance.
- Drive innovation within the application development function by identifying opportunities for leveraging AI and cloud technologies to enhance service delivery.
- Evaluate and recommend new tools and technologies that can improve development processes and outcomes.
- Establish and enforce quality assurance processes to ensure that all applications meet the highest standards of performance, security, and reliability.
- Implement automated testing frameworks and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices to streamline development workflows.
- Identify potential risks in application development projects and implement mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal policies related to data security and application performance.
PROFILE
- At least 10+ years of experience in application development, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the financial services industry.
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Strong technical expertise in modern application design, including API development, AI integration, and cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, etc.).
- Proven experience leading global teams and managing cross-functional projects.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence executive stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a strategic mindset, with a focus on delivering client-centric solutions.
