We are looking for a Senior Product Manager to own the Data Platform & API — the shared, governed data foundation and API layer that other product teams build on. Rather than building bespoke data integrations and one-off APIs team-by-team, this role exists to define and deliver reusable platform capabilities — master data management, entity resolution, data quality and stewardship, and a coherent API strategy — that scale safely across the business.

This is a hybrid role: you will lead a small team while staying deeply hands-on yourself — shaping data models, making architecture decisions, and defining API design standards. You will work closely with Engineering, Data teams and business stakeholders across the business to ensure the platform's capabilities are adopted broadly and serve every consuming system reliably.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Data platform strategy & roadmap

  • Own the vision, strategy and roadmap for the Data Platform & API's core capabilities: master data management, entity resolution, data quality and API access.
  • Prioritise the platform backlog against reuse potential, capability maturity and impact across dependent product teams.
  • Build reusable, governed data and API capabilities that other teams can adopt, rather than one-off integrations built per team.

Data as a Product

  • Shape the “Data as a Product” strategy in line with the Technology and Line of Business organizations, defining how data is packaged, owned and delivered as a first-class product rather than a by-product of operational systems.
  • Define tiered data offerings and expose them to customers via appropriate protocols, balancing accessibility with governance and commercial value.

Hands-on data & architecture craft

  • Apply solid understanding of master data management principles, entity resolution and data governance to platform design decisions.
  • Stay hands-on with data modeling and architecture decisions, working directly with data and engineering teams on the platform's foundations.
  • Maintain familiarity with the underlying technology stack — such as Databricks, AWS and Kubernetes — to make informed platform and architecture trade-offs.

API strategy & developer experience

  • Shape API strategy across the platform, including REST/GraphQL design, versioning and backward compatibility.
  • Own the developer experience for API consumers, ensuring clear documentation, consistent standards and a low-friction path to integration.

Data quality & stewardship

  • Define and embed data quality frameworks and stewardship practices that hold up across multiple consuming systems.
  • Own the governance model that keeps data trustworthy, well-documented and fit for purpose as adoption scales across teams.

Team leadership

  • Lead and develop a small team, balancing people leadership with continued hands-on ownership of data modeling and architecture decisions.
  • Set clear priorities and ways of working for the team, using disciplined, agile delivery approaches.

Cross-functional influence

  • Act as the platform's product lead in a matrixed organization, influencing Engineering, Data and business stakeholders who do not report into this role.
  • Partner with vertical product teams to understand their data and integration needs and translate them into platform capabilities rather than bespoke solutions.
  • Represent the platform's roadmap and trade-offs clearly to technology leadership and stakeholders across the business.

YOUR PROFILE:

  • 10+ years of experience in product management or data engineering/architecture, with genuine hands-on technical depth.
  • Solid understanding of master data management principles, entity resolution and data governance.
  • Practical experience shaping API strategy: REST/GraphQL design, versioning and developer experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to shape a “Data as a Product” strategy in partnership with Technology and Line of Business organizations, including exposing tiered data to customers via appropriate protocols.
  • Comfortable in a hybrid role, leading a small team while remaining hands-on with data modeling and architecture decisions.
  • Experience with data quality frameworks and stewardship across multiple consuming systems.
  • Familiarity with technology such as Databricks, AWS and Kubernetes.
  • Strong ability to influence Engineering, Data and business stakeholders within a matrixed organization.
  • Experience with disciplined, agile delivery approaches.
