Information Governance Lead

The Information Governance Lead is a member of the Alter Domus Information Governance team and is responsible for the governance of all Alter Domus personal and corporate information. The role will involve supporting the overall development, management and delivery of the Alter Domus Information Governance Strategy. The disired candidate will maintain oversight for and management of a number of data protection related processes including Data Subject Rights requests, incidents and DPIAs while identifying areas of improvement across the Information Governance agenda.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

 

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY

 

  • The role holder will be accountable for
  • Respond to information governance and data protection queries in a timely way
  • Escalate risks to the IG Manager and/or DPO where necessary
  • Provide statistical and qualitative reports to the IG Manager and DPO
  • The fulfilment of all Data Subject Rights Requests ensuring they are completed as per regulations and internal policy
  • Management of incident and breaches, co-ordinating with internal and external stakeholders

 

ROLE CONTEXT & SCOPE

 

To provide context as to the scope of the role, the Role Holder is responsible for the following elements as part of the Data Operating Model including:

 

  • Povide timely guidance to staff on data protection, GDPR, PECD and other related data protection legislation
  • Support the completion of Data Protection Impact Assessments
  • Support the development and implementation of policies, procedures and guidance that support the information governance agenda.
  • Support an audit of standards and procedures that assesses progress against the IG strategy, provides assurance on the level of compliance against statutory obligations for accountability.
  • Develop and deliver training to staff on data protection and related topics

 

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

 

 

The role holder will work with the Information Governance team to deliver the following KPIs

 

  • Supports risk assessment and their resolution within agreed timescales
  • Data Subject Rights are responded to within the regulatory and internal timescales
  • Incidents and breaches are appropriately managed including logging, assessment and investigation.
  • The provision of accurate and timely analytical and statistical reporting to support board assurance

 

PROBLEM SOLVING / COMPLEXITY

 

  • Ability to analyse and provide guidance to stakeholders on the impact of new or updated legislation or judgements etc. on Alter Domus’ business processes.
  • Able to lead and positively influence at all levels across functional and organisational boundaries, and navigate effectively within an ever-evolving environment – high complexity
  • Work with the business to identify, quantify, and demonstrate successful mitigation of information risks posed to Alter Domus to reduce the risk exposure of the organisation

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

 

  • Experience of implementing and positively exercising policies, procedures, and controls that illustrate rules of engagement, decision and ownership rights, and accountabilities for the effective management of risk across the organisation in comparable industries with a similar global presence
  • Qualifications or experience in data protection and/or information governance.
