Head of Risk

An exciting opportunity to work alongside the Senior Leadership team, overseeing the effective execution and evolution of the firm’s risk management framework, in line with industry and regulatory standards and best practice.



Major responsibilities include:


  • Liaising with Group Risk function, local and Group Compliance, internal audit and senior management
  • Overseeing errors and control breakdowns including identification, resolution, reporting, root cause analysis and remediating actions
  • Identifying and anticipating possible problem areas, accurately measure potential risks, and propose suitable solutions
  • Reviewing and assessing the operational risks associated with new products, initiatives and processes and ensuring adherence to the firm’s operational risk tolerance thresholds
  • Ensuring effective awareness, consideration and management of wider business, economic and market risks relevant to the Company
  • Ensuring appropriate reporting to key stakeholders across the Group
  • Review and update of the firm’s Risk Management policy as required
  • Oversight of the Risk & Controls process and Risk Assurance programme
  • Design and carry out risk training programmes



About You:


  • 8+ years experience in a Risk function including focus on elements such as embedded controls, Risk and Control Self Assessments; Risk Events; Scenario Planning; Second Line Assurance; Operational Risk Appetite; and Key Risk Indicators
  • Experience gained in a regulated environment, ideally from an investment funds setting (fund administration, fund management)
  • Degree qualified in relavent field (Minimum 2.1 honours preferred) 
  • Previous appointment to a related pre-approved control (PCF) function will be considered an asset
  • Knowledge of technical concepts and relevant industry standards e.g. Basel Principles of Operational Risk, COSO Enterprise Risk Framework
  • Experience interacting with and reporting to senior management teams
  • Strong problem solving and communication skills
  • Ability to take initiative and critically analyse processes and procedures in a push towards constant improvement
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team in a highly dynamic work environment
