Head of Investment Management 


We are searching for a professional to develop and lead the investment management function of our newly established Irish AIFM (“ADMCI”).



Reporting jointly to the Country Executive for Ireland and the Managing Director of the Alter Domus Management Company, as Head of ADMCI, you will be a key stakeholder for the Alter Domus AIFM offering. Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, on-going development of investment management operations in regards to the AIFM. You will also be required to take a lead role in significant client relationships and to actively participate in business development opportunities with prospective clients.

As Head of Investment Management you will:

  • Act as Chief Investment Officer (PFC-30) and Designated Person with responsibility for Investment Management (PCF-39D) of ADMCI, managing the portfolio activities of the AIFM (PE / RE / infrastructure / other type of investment strategies) in collaboration with the investment advisors;
  • With a growing team of Irish AIFM operations from its base in Cork;
  • Ensure implementation of an effective oversight and control environment in accordance with local legal and regulatory requirements and to ensure effective communication with the Central Bank of Ireland as required from time to time;
  • Oversee the development of an Investment Management Team as well as the investment managers portfolio management activities in case of delegation
  • Perform due diligence on the investment managers/advisors
  • Review potential investments (compliance with the AIF’s risk profile) and business plan
  • Head the investment committees of the AIFM
  • Ensure ongoing monitoring of investments’ compliance with applicable regulations and AIF’s documentation
  • Report to the board of directors of the AIFM relating to Portfolio Management matters
  • Foster a corporate culture that promotes ethical practices, customer focus and service and integrity;
  • Maintain a positive work environment to attract, retain and motivate employees at all levels by promoting communication between colleagues for the benefit of information flow and problem resolution;
  • Ensure effective talent resourcing, performance, development, motivation and retention with the support of Human Resources department
  • Collaborate with local and group stakeholders on medium to longer term plans for corporate growth and evolution;
  • Oversee and engage in new business opportunities in collaboration with local and group leadership to ensure successful RFPs;
  • Participate in expansion activities such as the integration of newly acquired business and personnel;
  • Oversee customer support processes and organize them to enhance customer satisfaction.

  • Strong academic background and ideally post graduate degree in Corporate Finance, Economics or similar fields from university or business school;
  • Strong knowledge of the AIFMD rules and guidelines;
  • At least 8 years of relevant experience in Portfolio Management within an asset manager or AIFM
  • In depth knowledge of AIFMD, private equity and real estate transactions (other investment strategy would also be well regarded)
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and influencing capabilities in a global and complex matrix organisation.
  • Evidence of proven leadership skills - building, leading and developing high performing teams to deliver outstanding results.
  • Familiarity with MS Office and various business software (e.g. ERP, CRM).
